April brings a fresh look on little treasures around us. A time to see the landscape in a new way. Juliette’s Bakery and Deli at 40 Ticonic Street in Waterville deserves such a look. This little deli you might drive by everyday is a premiere staple of the “North End” neighborhood. Locals know owner, Gerard Turmelle, and his staff work together to prepare all of their delicious sandwiches, italians, steak bombs, dagwoods, salads and their mouth-watering fresh dough pizzas, creating each one as an individual treat!
The Juliette’s team staff the shop Monday through Friday 8AM to 8PM. Gerard told me weekends are for family. One thing Gerard enjoys is knowing his customers. To date, his only advertising has been word of mouth. He tells me he has new customers come in every day. “Once you try our deli specialties, you’ll be back.” For instance, their dagwoods stand alone. The flat bread pockets are filled with three layers of veggies, bacon and cheese with the meat of your choice! It is so full, you better bring your appetite. Other favorites are their steak bomb, meatball sandwiches and a fan favorite, Chicken Supreme.
When entering Juliette’s, you will notice the center isle divides the store into two distinctive sides. The Deli is on one side and the Bakery on the other. You will notice that the shelves are stocked just so, providing a clean organized use of space. A glass-enclosed commercial kitchen stands ready for Juliette’s early morning baking. Maxim, Gerard’s son, enjoys learning the many aspects of creating all the muffins, cookies, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, breakfast pizza and egg sandwiches.
Gerard said that Juliette’s love for baking began while growing up in a large family. No-bake cookies were her specialty. She still makes them regularly along with her whoopie pies. Another line they have created is their “meals to go” menu items. Chili, soups, and spaghetti with garlic bread are only a few of the meals ready to take home. Check out their Facebook page for new items added weekly. Note: Don’t use Google to find Juliette’s online, as it has the wrong pricing on an outdated site. Please follow them on Facebook.
To order call (207) 873- 3700 and your order will be ready when you arrive. Juliette’s Bakery and Deli is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered for their friendly family atmosphere, sweet treats and mouth watering, ready to eat sandwiches and pizza. It’s a place where Sharon, Debbie, Maxim and Gerard (pictured above) know your name and welcome you into their “North End” home. Enjoy!
