Holy Cannoli

February 2022 Featured Business

by Clare Milton

Holy Cannoli Holy Cannoli on Main Street in Waterville is an authentic Italian bakery. Jason and January Furchak purchased the bakery in late 2019. In 2022, Holy Cannoli is celebrating 10 years of tempting locals with baked from scratch goods. Choose from Italian cannolis, cheesecakes, yummy brownies, gluten-free treats, and lots more.

In the midst of COVID, opportunity knocked, and January and Jason answered. Holy Cannoli moved their business one door down to 70 Main Street. They now occupy the main floor of the former Kennebec Federal Savings Bank building. The move more than doubled their lobby and kitchen space. It also gave them room to create a couple of quiet nooks where friends can meet, or even book or knitting clubs can gather. After-hour events are an option too. More space means more staff is needed so Holy Cannoli is currently hiring!

Holy CannoliThe new space has also allowed them to create more delicacies and expand their brand. They have added Coffee by Design, a Portland, Maine based coffee roasting company, to bring local coffees to uplift your day. They have added more homemade soups, Italian grinders, chili and to-go meals. Vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free and keto options are also offered. Lasagna, eggplant Parmesan, chicken pot pie, and scrumptious new meatloaf sandwich panini are all perfect choices. Holy Cannoli is always eager to try something new!

Holy Cannoli has been expanding their breakfast menu as well. New egg sandwiches, bagels, muffins, donuts, cheese Danish and other yummy treats await your taste buds. Birthday and wedding cakes are a delicious addition, also available in gluten-free and sugar-free options.

Jason and January have been married for over 20 years. They parent two teenage girls: Jorja, 18, who attends UNE and Jenna, 13, who attends Lawrence Junior School. Together they share their busy home with two Great Danes, Bella and Poppy.

Jason formerly worked for UPS and his delivery route included Holy Cannoli, where he would often have lunch. One day the prior owner asked if he would be interested in buying the business. He and January came up with a plan and it all came together. He retired from UPS almost a year ago and joined his wife full time to provide their on-site owners’ special touch. He told me the buck stops with him.

Go to Holy Cannoli’s Facebook page to view their daily menu options. They are excited to welcome you to their downtown Waterville Main Street Italian Bakery. You can now park out front as well as in the Concourse. Treat yourself with one of their yummy goodies and you’ll be saying “HOLY CANNOLI THAT’S AWESOME!” Holy Cannoli is open 6 days a week from 7AM to 6PM. 207-877-7899.
