Wtvl Florist2 Feb2021February brings a ray of sunshine that blankets the classic yellow bungalow, home of Waterville Florist on Upper Main Street in Waterville. One of Central Maine's oldest family owned florist shops.

Jeff Karter owner, Floral Designer, Event Planner and Formal Wear Purveyor holds a steady grip, while bringing joy and comfort to our community for more than 38 years.

Waterville Florist first opened its doors just beyond the Hathaway building on Water Street at a time when the mills were running and local activities brought walk in traffic.   Over time,  Jeff wanted to add services that the new location at 287 Main Street's eclectic charm would provide.

Wtvl Florist Feb2021One of Jeff's goals was to offer a one stop shopping experience for your wedding and event needs.  Flowers and men's formal wear, or prom tuxes are color coordinated with the perfect shade of flowers to complement their date's dresses, their ties and cummerbunds. Assuring perfect family photos happily adorn their mantle for years to come.

Recently, Jeff decided to retire in 2023 in his 40th year in business.  Ashley Ann Ferris, a local young entrepreneur was looking for a business opportunity.

She brings her 2021 media skills, logistics, and customer know how to the business.  Jeff is teaching her the business side and floral design.  Ashley is currently working on her business degree.

Together they line up the work orders for the day and coordinate local deliveries.  They both enjoy seeing the smiles when social distance porch deliveries brightens up someone's day.  They wait in the car to be sure the flowers are quickly received.

Wtvl Florist3 Feb2021In this time of covid, flowers have been a way to "Send Love!" Great care is taken to choose the perfect colors, favorite flowers and special design making each boutique truly unique.

Waterville Florist also carries a large selection of stuffed animals. Valentine Bears and colorful critters are waiting to send that special hug.

Hospital deliveries of get well and new babies bouquets bring a special joy too. One phone call or email can send an affordable  birthday wish or "Make Your Day Bouquet " on its way to your "special someone!"   A show of sympathy for a loved one or friend or the passing of a beloved family pet truly brings a sentiment of comfort for the recipient.

Wtvl Florist4 Feb2021Over the years Jeff has catered to many clients emotional needs. Flowers bring out the "love connection." He told me of a gentleman who came in every Friday for a single yellow rose for his true love. A while ago, on one of his Friday visits, he cried when explaining his beautiful bride had passed away.  Not wanting to break his weekly ritual, he continued to stop by, to pick up a fragrant yellow rose and took it to her grave.  This went on until one Friday he didn't show up.  Jeff spoke with his daughter, only to learn he was now with his "love" again.

If you enjoy the beauty of vibrant healthy houseplants Waterville Florist is the place for you.  Peace Lilys, Authurium, air flowers, Orchids, garden statues and hanging plants offer a peaceful attitude to your day.  You can also take your turn in their feel good " Walk -in Cooler." A chance to breathe in the fragrance of roses, tulips, babies breath and choose your fresh flowers personally.

Ashley and Jeff enjoy the challenges that each new day brings. They are abiding by all the CDC Guidelines.  Call ahead for curbside  or home deliveries - (207) 872-7422.   They are now accepting Valentine's orders.  Check them out on Facebook for their latest designs and specials.   A trip to Waterville Florist will brighten your day and give or receive a personalized "Make Your Day Bouquet."
